Deadline

December 1 by default — you need the money before you shop, not on Christmas morning.

Traditional Christmas clubs were bank products that locked deposits away until November or December. You couldn’t touch the money even if you needed it — which was the point and also the biggest complaint.

This tracker keeps the useful part (steady contributions toward Christmas) and drops the lock. You decide the target, you decide the schedule, and the money remains yours the entire time. The printed sheet simply gives you a place to record and cross off each deposit.

Set a goal and a deposit rhythm that matches your paydays. The tracker can calculate equal contributions or you can enter your own amounts. Nothing is locked; you can pause, adjust, or withdraw if circumstances change.

Print it and treat it like the old passbook — cross off each deposit as it lands. The difference is that this version works with real life instead of against it.

Questions

How is this different from the old bank Christmas club?
The old version restricted access until a set release date. This tracker never locks the funds. You keep full control while still getting the structure and visibility that made the original clubs effective.
Should I still open a separate account?
A separate savings account can help psychologically even without a formal lock. Moving the money out of everyday checking is often enough to keep it intact until December.
Can I change the amount or stop temporarily?
Yes. Because nothing is contractually locked, you can lower the deposits, skip a month, or pause entirely. Update the sheet so the remaining total stays accurate.
Is there a best time to start a Christmas club-style plan?
Earlier keeps the deposits smaller. Starting in summer gives the most room; starting in the fall still works, it just requires larger contributions to reach the same goal by December 1.
