Deadline

December 1 by default — you need the money before you shop, not on Christmas morning.

The day you'll make your first deposit. Every deposit after that follows your payday rhythm.

This is not the classic 100-envelope challenge. The tracker generates a shuffled set of amounts and assigns them to your real paydays. At a typical launch point that is 13 envelopes ranging from $50 to $120; start earlier or later and the count and range adjust with the remaining paydays.

The randomness is built into the amounts the generator creates. You cross each one off when the money is saved. That keeps the total realistic while still giving the envelope-style satisfaction of working through a list.

Set a target if you want one. The sheet shows the list of amounts and the paydays they fall on. Because the deposits follow your actual pay cycle, the plan stays usable.

Print the tracker and keep the envelopes (or the digital equivalent) where you’ll see them. Crossing off each generated amount is the habit that makes the method work.

Questions

Why not the traditional 100-envelope version?
The classic version totals $5,050 — five times the $1,000 this site defaults to — and requires funding every amount from $1 to $100. This version keeps the envelope crossing habit but uses a realistic total and real paydays.
Do I have to use physical envelopes?
No. A labeled savings account, a digital envelope in a budgeting app, or simply crossing the amounts off this sheet all work. The important part is moving the money out of everyday spending.
How are the amounts decided?
The generator creates a shuffled list within a set range and assigns them to your paydays. You don’t choose the individual figures; you just save the amount shown for that payday and cross it off.
What if I miss a payday contribution?
Nothing breaks. Save the missed amount on the next payday or adjust the remaining target. Because the list is already generated, skipping one only slows the total.
